At BWEF, we know that real change is not loud or dramatic.

It begins with deep listening. The kind that takes its time. Because growth needs the right environment to take root.

From there, something begins to form. Not a performance of change, but something grounded and considered. A structure built with care.
So the work is steady. It does not overwhelm with solutions. It builds with intention, creating something that can hold real lives over time.

There is restraint in this approach. A quiet understanding that urgency is not the same as impact. And in that restraint, its strength lives.

Over time, it becomes more than a programme. It becomes something people experience. Something that allows them to move differently, not because they are pushed, but because something within them has been awakened.

There is something powerful about women who grow,

There is something powerful about women who grow, learn, and bring that wisdom back to uplift the community. 🌸

Today we celebrate our very own Dr Boniswa Siwundla — BWEF Board Trustee and a passionate leader committed to the spirit of ukukhwezela.

After five years of dedication, her doctoral research explored how financial mindsets are shaped within families, particularly among students from underprivileged backgrounds. Her work reminds us that many of our earliest lessons about money are learned at home; through everyday experiences of responsibility, resilience, and care.

Through this journey, Dr Siwundla developed the Family Dynamics Financial Mindset Socialisation Model (FDFMSM), helping us better understand how family experiences shape the way we think about and engage with money.

At BWEF and Siyakhwezela, we are proud to walk alongside women who pursue knowledge and use it to strengthen families, communities, and future generations.
